About Us

Energy Oman was established in December 2020 by Royal Decree (2020/128) to focus on realizing efficiencies and pursuing new growth opportunities in Oman’s energy sector. The company’s stated vision is to be a world-class partner for growth while driving a sustainable energy future. The company works on the development of energy and alternative energy sector in line with Oman 2040 vision. Energy Oman owns 60% of block 6 Oil Concession, 100% of Block 6 Non-associated Gas Concession, and 100% of Hydrogen Oman LLC.

CEO's Message

At Energy Oman, we identify investment opportunities in the energy sector to maximize our financial returns. We work with various Government and private agencies to create a conducive business environment for foreign investments and also support small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Energy Oman's principles and values promote transparency, mutual trust and a steadfast commitment to engage and effectively work with all stakeholders.

As we embark upon an exciting new journey, I thank their Excellencies and members of the Board of Directors for their valuable support and guidance. I also thank all Energy Oman's employees for their dedication and efforts towards achieving the Company's vision and mission.

H.E. Eng. Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi

His Excellency Salim bin Nasser Al Aufi has more than 25 years of experience and has held several key positions in the Government prior to his appointment as Minister of Energy and Minerals in June 2022.
Between 2008 and 2010, he was Vice President for Northern Regions Production in Shell-Canada. Between 2010 and 2012, he becomes Director of the Northern Sector in Petroleum Development Oman. From 2012 to 2013, he was appointed as Executive President of Public Authority for Civil Aviation, after which he was appointed as Undersecretary of Ministry of Energy and Minerals.
His Excellency Eng. Salim Al-Aufi holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in the United Kingdom in 1995.

His Excellency Abdullah bin Salim Al Harthy was appointed as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance in July 2020. Prior to this appointment, since 2014, Al Harthy has been the CFO of the State General Reserve Fund (currently Oman Investment Authority). In addition, he held a number of positions in the State General Reserve Fund, the most important of which was Director of Public Markets, Director of Business Strategy, Senior Officer Asset Allocation, Portfolio Manager, and Equity Analyst.
He holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from the International Institute for Management Development in Switzerland and a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Sultan Qaboos University.

Mulham bin Basheer Al Jarf has over 25 years of experience in the field of international business and finance. He is currently Deputy President of Oman Investment Authority for Investment. Before joining the Oman Investment Authority, Mulham Al-Jarf held several positions, the most important of which were the Executive Vice President of Oman Oil Company, Chairman of Sohar Aluminum Company, and Chief of Investment Unit in State General Reserve Fund. He also held a number of posts in Oman Gas Company and Ministry of Oil and Gas.
He has a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, majoring in International Business, from Marymount University. He is also a registered with Solicitor General for England and Wales.

H.E. Nasser bin Khamis bin Ali Al Jashmi, Chairman of The Tax Authority

Nasser bin Khamis bin Ali Al Jashmi is the Chairman of the Tax Authority. He holds a master's degree in Applied Economics from an American University in Washington D.C., USA.

Throughout his distinguished career in government, he has held several senior roles, including Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and Supervisor of the National Program for Financial Sustainability and Financial Sector Development (Estidamah). He also served as Undersecretary of the Ministry of Oil & Gas (now the Ministry of Energy and Minerals) from 2003 to 2013, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Finance from 2013 to 2019, and Supervisor of the National Program for Fiscal Balance from 2019 to 2022.

Chief Executive Officer

Eng. Mazin bin Rashid Al-Lamki has extensive international experience in executive leadership in the oil and gas sector. He has held several operational, technical and commercial positions in companies worldwide.

Al Lamki started his career as an oilfield construction and maintenance mechanical works supervisor at Petroleum Development Oman. After that, he held managerial positions in sales, marketing, recruitment, regional management and oilfields in various countries at Schlumberger International Oilfield Services. He also held leadership positions at Mubadala Petroleum, most recently being its Chief Operating Officer.

Eng. Mazin bin Rashid Al-Lamki holds a Leadership Certificate in Senior Executive Leaders Program from IMD in Switzerland, as well as Mergers & Acquisitions and Finance programs from London Business School. In addition, he has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manchester, UK.

Eng. Sultan Al Mamari has nearly 20 years of experience across oil and gas companies. He held a number of different positions in the areas of finance, strategy, investment and field development. Prior to joining EDO, he worked as a Strategy Team Leader in Rawabet Program at Oman Investment Authority. He was also Vice President of Finance at the OQ Group. His experience includes working with several companies such as Occidental Petroleum, Schlumberger Oil Services and Petroleum Development Oman. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering from Sultan Qaboos University.

With 17+ years of experience, Mohammed Al Harrasi has been a key leader in the oil, gas, and investment sectors, founding and guiding various projects. His expertise includes talent acquisition, leadership development, digital transformation, and employee growth. Mohammed has driven organizational structuring, budgeting, communication, and project management, consistently achieving results that align with business goals and foster innovation.

With a strong focus on fostering cross-functional collaboration and building strong stakeholder relationships, Mohammed Al Harrasi has successfully led initiatives resulting in significant cost savings and enhanced operational efficiencies. His ability to leverage data-driven insights and technology solutions has led to the development and implementation of robust business strategies that are adaptable to dynamic market conditions. Through his proven track record of success, he has earned a reputation for being a results-oriented leader with a passion for driving continuous improvement and sustainable growth within the organizations he has served.

Thaddeus Thompson has over 30 years of experience in a number of leadership and supervisory positions. He worked as a consultant with Oman Oil Company and Ministry of Energy and Minerals between 2009 and 2022. Between 1994 and 2009, he was Legal Affairs Manager of Occidental Petroleum in Venezuela, Oman and the United States. From 1992 and 1994, he worked as a Legal Advisor in the international management of Maraven S.A, a subsidiary of Venezuelan oil company PDVSA.

Thompson holds a law degree from Universidad Católica Andrés Belo in Caracas, Venezuela, and an LLM from the University of London, UK.

Eng. Azhar bin Ahmed Al Kindi

Chief Operations Officer

Azhar Al Kindi has extensive international experience in executive leadership within the energy sector. He has held various operational, technical, and strategic roles in companies across multiple regions.

Azhar began his career in Oman and progressed to leadership roles, including COO and Deputy CEO at Petrogas E&P, where he managed international exploration and development projects and chaired key subsidiaries. His career has spanned diverse markets, including the US and Australia, where he successfully drove growth and strengthened financial performance.

In addition to his role as COO at Energy Development Oman, Azhar serves as Executive Manager of the National Employment Program “Tahgheel,” focused on creating sustainable employment across Oman’s economic sectors. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Durham University, UK, along with executive qualifications in business and leadership.
